2008 Q Award Recipient

NOKIA Theatre L.A. Live


Los Angeles, CA – AEG, the owner of NOKIA Theatre L.A. LIVE received the 2008 Q Award. The ceremony was held at NOKIA Theatre L.A. LIVE on Thursday, June 12, 2008 followed by a luncheon in NOKIA Plaza catered by Wolfgang Puck. The award honors AEG for its recently constructed 7,100-seat NOKIA Theatre L.A. LIVE with architecture by ELS. The new $120 million live entertainment venue is part of AEG's L.A. LIVE project, a 5.6 million square foot mixed-used development on 27 acres and covering more than 6 city blocks.

Kevin Rieger, AEG Senior Vice President of Real Estate accepted the Q Award on behalf of recipient AEG. Also representing AEG was Ignatius Chau, AEG Senior Project Manager, NOKIA Theatre.

Presentations during the Q Award ceremony were provided by Mayor Antonio Villaregosa's representative Julie Gutman, Commissioner, L.A. Board of Public Works, Jan Perry, L.A. City Councilwoman, Richard Heim, CEO of Clark Construction, the general contractor of NOKIA Theatre, and Steve Dell'Orto, Clark Construction's Project Executive Vice President.

With the leadership of general contractor, Clark Construction, NOKIA Theatre L.A. LIVE absorbed 725,000 man-hours to its completion.  This world-class facility was built with union craftsmen in slightly over a two-year period. Within this construction project, notable building facts arise including the use of 61,000 tons of concrete, 1,515 tons of steel, 200 sheets of plywood, 23,000 panels of sheetrock, 50,000 screws, 40 miles of cable, and 148,000 feet of fiber optic cable. The venue boasts state-of-the-art technology including a $2 million specialty lighting & rigging package, $1.5 million JBL VerTec facility sound system, 11,000 Amps of show power, 548,500 watts of show lighting, 300,000 lbs. of rigging capacity, 90,000 lbs. capacity of motorized rigging and lighting catwalks, and 23 Media Patch Panels.
